A Gift of Friendship
( to foster people-to-people relations between California and China )
This Hearing aid was donated by Barbara Davis of Calistoga, CA
On June, 3 2004 our group went, on behalf of Barbara Davis, to donate a Hearing Aid to a disabled child in FuNing,China.
It was a bright sunny spring day when our group arrived this FuNing County School for the Disabled Children.
LiLi was born in a family with both of her parents disabled( both deaf and dumb) and as a single child was
raised in the world of silence. With the donation of hearing aid, she will start to learn how to speak and
live in the normal environment. Soon, she will be able to hear the singing of the birds in nature.
Zhang LiLi is now six years old.
Photos were donated by Martin Rodeman

Victoria Babish in her June/3 diary wrote :
"... After the hike we had a tour of a school for handicapped children.
Only one child was at school since it was holiday time after Children's Day.
The child was a deaf girl and Tony presented her with an improved hearing aid.
We saw a demonstration where the girl was able to hear the number of notes that Tony played on a mini keyboard..."
Zhang LiLi, with the hearing aid, will receive instruction from a professional Speech Pathologist and learn how to talk.
Eventually she will join a regular public school and high school. This will lead her to have a chance to receive an education, job and/or marriage.
Today is the beginning of her new way of life.
Barbara Davis has changed the future of Zhang LiLi and the fate of her whole life.
